The number of tools and ways we can use today to strengthen our grip is nearly infinite. From the grip master hand to the popular Dynaflex, increasing our grip strength can actually prove to be quite fun. In fact, gripping on something is actually one of the best stress relievers known to man and the benefits don’t just end there.
Having a generally strong grip strength will allow us to push out our sets with ease, increase our number of repetitions, increase our upper bodies muscular endurance, and will even prevent and reduce our risk of injury. With that said here are the top 10 products and tools we recommend you use to start increasing your grip strength today, which in-turn will give you much more control over the workouts you put in, either at home or at the gym.
Best Equipment, Products, & Tools For Better Grip Strength
#10th. Wrist and Strength Exerciser By AMYCO
This effective yet simple piece of equipment by the AMYCO company is a great tool to have in our grip strengthening arsenal and the reason for that is because of its focus on our forearms and wrist. Unlike most grip strengthening products which primarily focus on the hand and grip, the Wrist and Strength Exerciser by AMYCO focuses on our forearm muscles first and foremost.
The equipment works by allowing us to perform both regular and reverse wrist curls as we would with a dumbbell. We chose the Wrist and Strength Exerciser due to its low price, convenience, portability, and its effectiveness for working our forearms, which is often neglected. But, because of the fact AMYCO’s product does not do much in the way to directly target the grip, we definitely feel there are better products out there that should first be considered.
#9th. Wrist and Forearm Blaster By Yes4All
We aren’t a big fan of this product actually, but figured we’d add it to the list anyway. It gives us a better idea of what’s out there, what we’re working with, and allows us to compare it with other more effective products. Don’t get us wrong, Wrist and Forearm Blasters like this one do work and work well, but they’re simply not as efficient. Nor do they have that portability aspect either. In fact, you’ll even need a weighted plate just to add on. Compare that to the other types of grip strengthening products on the market, and you can see why this didn’t land the top spot.
The actual workout nevertheless, actually feels quite good, but at the same time, feels kind of tedious in a way. Kind of like heavy lifting, but without as much reward in the end. That’s just how I feel about it. Feel free to disagree. The Wrist and Forearm Blaster still gets a standing ovation (or seated?) from us. But, that’s about it.
#8th. Captains Of Hand Grip Crusher
Certainly our more traditional kind of tool, but very effective for the grip, wrist, and forearms. Any kind of tool that forces your whole hand to squeeze around the object can drastically increase the strength of your grip. The tool comes in 11 different strengths that can be ordered. The reason the Captains Of Hand Grip Crusher failed to make it higher on our list was due to its lack of a dial and inability to change the actual resistance. The only way to increase the amount of resistance is by buying the same product at a higher strength, which isn’t very efficient.
#7th. Ready Go Anywhere Hand Grip Strengthener By Fitness Ready
This is where the products start to get interesting and I actually really like this one. Yes, I know it’s simple, cost-effective, highly portable, and efficient in building grip strength, which is what we should be looking for in any hand grip strengthener, right?
The Ready Go Anywhere Hand Grip Strengthener is a perfect choice for us who are looking to strengthen our grip, on-the-go or for those of us who get frustrated easily and simply need to squeeze something fast. These tools are so small, so portable, and yet deliver an insane amount of resistance for their size; anywhere between 30 and 50 pounds. While it’s not the most effective grip strength product on the market, it certainly gets the job done.
#6th. NSD Power Auto Start Spinner Gyroscopic Wrist & Forearm Exercise
Didn’t I say things we’re starting to get interesting? Just look at the name on this one. The only reason the Ready Go Anywhere didn’t top the Gyroscopic Wrist Spinner is because this product is actually a lot of fun. There are some cons with it. That’s for sure, such as its constant use up of batteries and constantly having to buy more and switch them out for another, which caused me to eventually stop using mine. Otherwise, I really did have a blast with this after the first few weeks I bought it and could really feel my grip and wrists going to work.
The most enjoyable part was just trying to get the thing started in a spinning motion with my wrist and then having to speed up that motion as I felt the force of the gyro spinning. This can also be viewed as a con as well because the hardest part is just trying to get the gyro spinning in the first place. Basically, the gyro is a little ball within the contraption that you have to keep spinning, which in turn works the muscles within your hands. Yes, a confusing product, but lots of fun.
#5th. Gripmaster Pro Edition
Probably considered to be the most popular hand grip strengthening tool throughout the world. That still doesn’t mean it’s the best. It’s just very cost affordable, fairly effective, and beneficial in the fact you can work on just two or three fingers at a time. With that said, I personally have a hard time enjoying my workout with this kind of tool, but that’s just personal preference. Don’t get me wrong because it really is a great tool and I can definitely see why this seems to be the go-to choice for many individuals out there. I would say the biggest drawback of the Gripmaster Pro Edition and others like it is the fact it does absolutely nothing to workout your forearms or wrist for that matter.
#4th. Hand Grip Strengthener With 22-88 LBs Adjustable Resistance By ACF (Amazing Core Fitness)
Coming in at 4th place is the Hand Grip Strengthener by ACF and for very good reason. We can’t let the total simplicity of this tool fool us in any way. With nearly 88 pounds of maximum resistance, we’ll be getting the hand and grip strengthening workout of our life. The ease in which you can set the dial resistance and begin gripping away is what makes this product by ACF a great tool not only for strength but, rehabilitation as well. What I liked most about their hand grip strengthener was the huge range of resistance in that it allows you to eventually work your way up from 1 pound to the next. Not to mention its relatively low price point, we now no longer have an excuse to not be working on our grip.
#3rd. CAP Barbell Enamel Coated Cast Iron Kettlebell
If you don’t already have a kettlebell, I highly recommend getting one anyway. This is literally one of the best tools to increase your grip strength, while all the while, greatly strengthening the rest of your body. So rather than having to put time aside to work your grip, you can get it done as you are working out. It’s the immense force of the kettlebell swinging from side to side that will really help get that desired grip strength. If you want to learn more about kettlebells, check out this post on the various kinds of exercises that they are associated with.
#2nd. Sidewinder Pro XTREME By Sport Grips
The only reason the Sidewinder Pro XTREME didn’t hit the top spot is because of its very high price point. But if we had the money to spend and really wanted an efficient tool to work out our grip, this would certainly be a contender. Its extremely portable and is so effective due to the massive stimulus being sent to our hands, grip, and lower arms. Set the resistance, wind the handles, and begin to twist with either one or both hands.
We chose the Sidewinder Pro to take the #2 spot because of the huge range of resistance we can use and as we already know, nothing is more important than being able to gradually increase the amount of weight we use. Because, that’s how we actually increase our muscle mass and improve our strength, correct? In addition, it isn’t only effective in working our muscles in our hands and grips, but also within our forearms as well. Eventually, when trying to turn the Sidewinder Pro both clockwise and counter-clockwise, our grips will have no choice but to become stronger 🙂
#1st. Alpha Grips 2.0 By Iron Bull Strength – Extreme Arm Blaster!!
For me, I like to attack more than one thing at a time and the Extreme Arm Blaster by Alpha Grips helps us do just that. Unlike all the other tools mentioned in this list that require us to actually move our hands, fingers, and wrists, the only thing we need to do with our Alpha Grips is attach them to our bench press. This in turn widens our grip allowing us to subconsciously strengthen our grip, recruit more muscle fibers in our body, and make our bench press as a whole, much more effective. Enough said? 🙂
Thanks for checking out this list guys and I totally appreciate you stopping by. If you got anything you’d like to add, leave them in the comments below.
