Top 5 Best Fitness Trackers For 2017

What could keep you more motivated to reaching your fitness goals than a high-tech fitness gadget to go with that body? Since the release of the Apple iWatch, there has been a surge in some of the flashiest and most useful tech gear. We’re talking about gear that counts the amount of steps you take, your calorie intake, running speed, the quality of your sleep, and so much more. Who would have thought these little tools could be so handy?

Equivocally as important is the fact these fitness gadgets have also become some of the latest trends in todays fashion world. Normally, I’m not the biggest fan when it comes to wearing watches. But when it comes to little gadgets like the FitBit I’m all over them because of their amazing capabilities. This post goes over some of the best and most popular fitness gadgets you can buy.

But first, let’s quickly recap the benefits of wearing a fitness tracker:

  • They’re fashionable.
  • Can prevent unhealthy eating habits.
  • Keeps you on track with your weight loss goals.
  • Promotes a more active and healthy lifestyle.
  • Gives you a reason to push forward in reaching those fitness goals.
  • Especially beneficial if you do a lot of outdoor activities.
  • Can track the quality of your sleep.
  • Great to keep track of what you eat.
  • Great for motivation.

1. FitBit Alta Fitness Tracker

The latest, most innovative and popular fitness tracker is the FitBit Alta. The FitBit Alta is like the “iPhone” of fitness trackers. It used to be the case that the FitBit HR and Flex were the go to model. Now, the FitBit Alta greatly improves upon previous models.

The FitBit Alta is truly an amazing and fashionable watch that allows you to easily sync your stats wirelessly to both your smartphone and PC while boasting some additional features like getting call, text, and calendar notifications. The FitBit is constantly at work monitoring your heart-rate, calories burned through out the day, your sleep and activity levels, and more.

What stands out most about the FitBit though might not be just the watch itself, but its ability in transferring all that amazing data into one little neat app onto your phone. With this app, you get to view all your workout summaries, activity through out the day, nutrition, and more.

If there was one fitness tracker you’d want to use to keep your fitness in check, the FitBit Alta is the watch you’d want to get. The FitBit Alta is definitely the way to go, but if you’re looking for something even more flashy, then take a look at the FitBit Blaze, which is sure to turn many heads (including my own)! 🙂

Garmin Vivofit

2. Garmin Vivofit 2 Activity Tracker

What once used to only specialize in GPS trackers has now shifted into contributing one of the best fitness bands on the  market. The Garmin Vivofit 2 is a very affordable and stylish way of keeping your daily fitness in check.

Just like the Misfit Shine, the Garmin Vivofit 2 is water resistant with a very long battery life that can last as long as year without a single charge.

The Garmin Vivofit 2 records the calories you’ve burned off through out the day, metabolic rate, steps, calories, and distance. What makes the Garmin Vivofit especially unique is its ability in learning your current activity level and then giving you your personalized daily goal to reach for that day; a very, very neat tool. It can even notify you when you’ve been inactive for long periods of your time like being sedentary at your desk without moving.

The Garmin Vivofit really inspires motivation and a healthy and active lifestyle, which is really worth getting if you’re someone who forgets to move around enough through out the day.

Misfit Shine 3. Misfit Shine 2 Activity & Sleep Monitor

One eye-catching and highly affordable piece of fitness gear is the Misfit Shine 2. While it may be less superior in terms of its technology and long-term reliability than the FitBit Alta, it’s a great watch to have, especially if you’re on a budget.

This fitness tracker really takes the form of a real looking watch with its round time display. Just like the FitBit Alta, the Misfit Shine 2 is also capable of syncing to your wireless devices allowing you to upload your data through out the day.

There are two features in particular that stand out about the Misfit Shine 2; the first being that it really is a very elegant  watch and that it can be used underwater, making it a great tool for daily swimmers.

Like the FitBit HR, the Misfit Shine 2 can keep track of sleep, distance, steps, and calories. One of my favorite aspect of these fitness trackers is their ability to track the sheer quality of your sleep based on your heart rate, showing how accurate these tools can be. Unfortunately, the watch seems to suffers from a lot of technical difficulties.

Nike + SportsWatch4. Nike + SportWatch (GPS Powered)

The Nike fitness tracker is an amazing watch with fully-loaded features that track time, speed, distance, calories, and heart rate. The Nike + SportsWatch even allows you to set your own goals and makes use of a feature called Nike+ Challenges to motivate yourself in achieving those goals.

Another amazing feature to love about the SportWatch is its use of a personalized coach that sets you up on a running schedule based on difficulty and experience. In then logs and tracks your progress in the form of a graph, which you can use to analyze various trends.

The Nike SportWatch might just be a game changer in the world of fitness trackers and is a great option for those really looking to get motivated.

5. UP3 By Jawbone

Jawbone UP3The main attraction of the UP3 fitness tracker is the Smart Coach which gives you personal guidance through out the day. And just like the fitness trackers mentioned above, the Jawbone is capable of measuring heart rate and tracking your sleep.

Unfortunately, the Jawbone seems to be at a disadvantage with the device not working too great. For example, you might have trouble getting the device to track your heart health due to a weakness in signal. You may also have an issue trying to sync the device to your phone or app.

Also, the Jawbone only has a 7 day battery life whereas other fitness trackers use batteries that can last up to a whole year.
