#1. Start HIIT Training
High Intensity Interval Training is by far one of my favorite ways to get into shape fast. Back in the day, I remember having to run mile after mile, just to shed an extra pound. But steady-state cardio may just be a waste of time when it comes to weight loss. Instead you should be focusing most of your effort on high intensity interval workouts. By this I mean, sprinting for one minute and then walking the next.
What this does is it helps to maximize your metabolism along with your levels of endurance and stamina. Incorporating HIIT training will allow you to spend a fraction of the time spent with long steady-state cardio. I’ll admit, the workouts can be so much tougher to handle, but they’re more enjoyable in a way and you really feel like your body is getting a lot out of it. Instead of trying to run a couple miles next time you’re at the gym, take 20 minutes and do a HIIT workout and see how you like it.
#2. Practice Mindfulness
When it comes to eating, one of the best ways to help ward off the habit of eating too much is practicing mindfulness. This means slowly eating your meals and enjoying every bite you take instead of mindlessly eating. I’ll admit, I’m not the best when it comes to practicing mindfulness. Often times I’ll completely forget, but if this is something you can learn to perfect overtime, I guarantee this will help with your weight loss efforts. The end goal is to train your body to eat less through out the day, by trying to enjoy more of what you eat.

#3. Focus On Cutting Calories
One great trick that’s personally helped me shed 10 pounds in one month, by not trying all that hard is by focusing on calories. A lot of diets will emphasize the carbs or fats you intake through out the day. But the way I like to look at it is simple and was really helpful in some of my recent weight loss efforts. By cutting a portion of your calories through out each day, I bet you’ll lose weight in no time.
Ever heard of the twinkie diet? A guy named Mark Haub did an experiment where he cut his calorie intake from 2,600 to 1,800 calories per day. The catch here is all he did was snack on junk food. It was the unhealthiest diet by far (and is not recommended), but the point is, he lost 27 pounds in 2 months. This just goes to show that if you cut down on overall calories, you can lose weight. Whether this means cutting out your midnight snacks or eating less at dinner time, this is a great way to go about it.
#4. Lift More Weights
Lifting weights is a great solution to weight loss because it raises your metabolism in ways that steady state cardio does not. For example, while steady state cardio might only raise your metabolism for the hour or two that you’re running, lifting weights can raise your metabolism for hours and hours after you’re gym session. Next time you’re at the gym, make sure to implement some strength training in there!
#5. Invest In Home Gym Equipment
What better way to lose weight and get in shape fast than by having your own home gym equipment? Whether it’s the Concept2 Model D Rowing Machine or a bunch of small fitness accessories you might have laying around, this is a great way to accelerate your weight loss efforts. It also serves as a great reminder to get up, move around, and exercise more often.
My recommended accessories:
- Stability Ball by Gaiam.
- CAP Kettlebell.
- Resistance Band Set.
#6. Go To a Group Fitness Class
There are so many kinds of group fitness classes you can take. This isn’t only going to help you get into shape, but is going to be a great motivator. You’ll be hanging around similar types of people with similar goals in mind and you’ll feel so much more encouraged to hit the gym when you’re feeling lazy. Mix up the type of classes you take. I suggest a combination of cycling, yoga, and pilates. Imagine if you tried to perfect each one of these classes and the type of impact it could have on your weight-loss. Trust me, it’s a great motivator for losing weight and there are many other benefits to those classes as well. #7. Find a Dietitian or Nutritionist to Guide You
What better way to lose weight than to have an expert in this area guide you. A nutritionist can help to customize and improve your lifestyle and eating habits. You can also hire a weight management consultant who are usually ACE certified. This isn’t a bad choice if you’re dying to lose weight, but aren’t sure at how to go about it. You could also try and work with a personal trainer at your local gym.
Hope these weight loss tips helped and as always, remember to take action. That’s the most important part. If you have any questions or would like to leave a comment, please do so below! 🙂
