Whether we’re looking to spice up our home gym a bit or are looking for a way to add some boxing workouts into the mix, there are some really great and affordable pieces of boxing equipment you should know about. I’ve personally experienced quite a few boxing tools in my time and some pieces of equipment certainly stand out above others.
While some pieces of equipment may require some constructing (such as inconveniently having to drill holes into the ceiling), there are other much more simple pieces as well that will allow us to get to punching right away. I’ll do my best to list the best of both worlds and you can decide on what would make for the best piece of equipment for you and your home gym.
Please also keep in mind to always use caution when purchasing any kind of boxing or MMA training equipment for the home and to always be consulted by a professional before installing or deciding on any one of the following items. Thanks, and hope you enjoy this list! 🙂
#1. Century Wavemaster XXL Training Bag
The Wavemaster XXL Training Bag is the perfect bag for anyone looking to up their martial arts game. With a 69-inch height in measurement and an 18-inch diameter, the Century Wavemaster can certainly be considered to be very large. It’s high-quality surface however, was specifically made for striking.
We can fill the bag with either sand or water, but once that’s done, don’t intend on moving the bag. After we’ve filled this bag up, it will weigh in at approximately 270 pounds. The biggest advantage to the Century Wavemaster XXL is the fact that we don’t need to hang it from any kind of ceiling. As long as we’ve filled the bag up with sand or water, it should be able to stand on its own two-feet. The Century Wavemaster bag is available in red, black, or blue.
#2. Hyperflex Free Standing Bag By Everlast
If you’re looking for something smaller, look no further than the Hyperflex Heavy Bag by Everlast. This one is actually a fraction of the size of the Century Wavemaster, but is the perfect addition for any home gym because of the minimal amount of space it takes up. Keep in mind that the Hyperflex Bag focuses much more on speed training, whereas the Wavemaster focuses more on heavy training and punching.
Nevertheless, I became obsessed with my first Reflex Punching Bag. The only problem I did encounter was a small bend in the steel pole it stood on due to kicking it at full-force. Trust me, it was pretty hard to do, but I’ll tell you that this bag is a whole lot of fun and one of the best techniques for speed training and practice I’ve yet to encounter.
We can also adjust the bag to our liking by choosing one of the following 3 settings: Speed Flex (for fast punches, combos, and reflex), Straight Flex (for technique, agility, footwork, and timing), OR Hyperflex (for agility, speed, and accuracy). My personal favorite is the Straight Flex setting because it swings the entire pole back and forth, but they’re all pretty awesome! 🙂
#3. Everlast 70-pound MMA Heavy-Bag Kit
The Everlast 70-pound MMA punching bag could be just the thing you’ve been looking for. What’s great about this bag is that it includes 108-inch hand wraps and some heavy bag gloves as well. It comes with a bungee cord as well so you can customize the bags resistance to your liking and a small chain allowing us to customize the height of the bag.
Keep in mind that this kind of bag requires we hang it from some kind of ceiling so always make sure to research how to do this beforehand before making any kind of purchase. The other alternative is by buying a free stand which you can weigh down, but if we’re going to do that, you might prefer going with the Century Wavemaster instead.
#4. ProCircle Speed Jump Rope
The ProCircle Jump Rope comes at a bargain and what’s a gym made for boxing without a jump rope? The one made by ProCircle is my favorite one by far simple because of the high-quality cables which keeps it from getting tangled and their extra long 6-inch handles. This jump rope was specifically constructed and designed for cross fitness, boxing, and MMA trainers alike.
#5. Everlast Pro Style Training Gloves
If you’re looking for the best quality made training gloves, look no further than the Everlast Pro, which offers plenty of style and durability to the mix. Made out of synthetic leather, they are also made with a ThumbLok feature made to prevent injury.
In my opinion, EverLast is one of the most notable and reliable boxing brands in the world. So if you’re looking for some awesome training gloves, give these ones a go. They are available in 12, 14, and 16-ounce sizes, and give you the choice of that traditional lace up design or a hook and loop velcro strap for ease and simplicity. 🙂
#6. Everlast 4318 Punch Mitts
If we’re looking to specifically improve our accuracy and technique, the Everlast 4318 Punch Mitts will be the perfect tool. Keep in mind that these mitts require two people for use. They are made from premium synthetic poly canvas for the best possible durability.
#7. Everlast Dual Station Heavy Bag Stand
The Everlast Dual Station is truly the ultimate home boxing kit, which includes all your boxing needs into one. This amazing bundle comes with a boxing stand so we don’t need to hang any bags from the ceiling. It offers a pretty quality heavy bag as well and a small speed bag that can also be attached to the stand.
It includes two leather padded bag gloves with a palmed grip as well as cotton hand grips. The only drawback I could find with the Dual Station made by Everlast is the fact that it will take up a lot of room in whatever space you may be looking to use it for.
