What we are about to see below is by far the best strength training and cardio equipment we can get on a $300 budget. With the equipment below, we’re going to have a whole variety of equipment that we’ll never get bored of. One thing we’ll also be seeing is one small but critical difference between home gym options 1 and 2.
Although I recommend option #1, I always feel it’s important to lay out all the best options for us on the table. If quality is important to us, then we’ll usually end up having to pay a higher price. That’s not to say however, we can’t get some really awesome and useful equipment at our price point.
Home gym option #1 offers all the workout flexibility and equipment we need without having to go through any of the same or mundane exercises. Home gym option #2 limits us in a way by sacrificing cardio, as well as one of my favorite equipments, the rowing machine.
But, by doing so, we’ll also be able to afford a somewhat more sophisticated and high-quality body tower. It’s important you use your best judgment to find out which kind of equipment you need most and would be the most useful to having your goals and needs met.
Home Gym Option 1:
#1. Stamina Body Trac Glider 1050
Rowing machines are by far, one of the best pieces of equipment to have in our home gym. The Stamina Body Trac Glider 1050 will work out everything from our legs, back, abdominals, buttocks to our core. The rowing machine allows for a low-impact workout that not only accomplishes all our needs for muscle training but cardio as well.
This particular rowing machine is a compact and foldable 23.5″ x 46″ piece of machinery that will allow for plenty of additional space in your home gym. It includes adjustable gas shock resistance and a monitor showing your time, stroke count, and number of calories burned. It’s sturdy and durable steel frame construction has made the Stamina Body Trac Glider a top choice by fitness enthusiasts and professionals alike.
For those really interested in investing into a very high-quality rower, definitely check out the Concept2 Model D, which is by far, my favorite rower of all time! 🙂
#2. Stamina 1690 Power Tower
The 1690 PowerTower by Stamina is an awesome and affordable piece of strength-training equipment to have. Its freestanding design will help keep our workout area spacious while giving us exactly what we need to work on our basic compound exercises. These include our push-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups, chin-ups, tricep dips, and more.
Weighing in at 54 pounds, the Power Tower is capable of holding up to 250 lbs. in body-weight. Its superior quality makes the Stamina 1690 Power Tower just the thing we needed to complete our home gym. Compound exercises capable with the Power Tower are a critical component to strengthening our bodies the right way making this the next perfect addition to our home gym. (keep in mind that the video above shows a higher priced model of the power tower, but I just wanted to show you for demonstration purposes, how these pieces of equipment can be used)
#3. Kinzi Resistance Band Set With Exercise Chart, Carrying Case, & Ankle Strap
The Kinzi Resistance Band Set will allow us to incorporate some form of resistance exercise by helping to imitate the use of weights. We’ll want to have some kind of band set due to cost-effectiveness, utility, and convenience.
These resistance band sets are the next best alternative to actual free weights and could even be seen as more effective by allowing us to complete our workouts with a whole new level of variety. Each Kinzi Resistance Band Set includes a carrying case, exercise chart, and ankle strap making it one of my most recommended resistance band tool on the market. Black Mountain offers a great set as well.
If you’re more interested in purchasing a set of dumbbells, then definitely go with the Bowflex Adjustable Dumbbell Set. Of course, these are going to cost a lot more, but are worth every cent in my opinion!
#4. CAP Barbell Kettlebell
The kettlebell by CAP barbell is one of the most versatile pieces of equipment we can get and serves as an excellent replacement for the higher priced dumbbells. Kettlebells allow us to accomplish a whole set and range of exercises that aren’t normally allowed by dumbbells alone and are especially great for toning up the core.
This specific piece of equipment is made out of solid cast iron for long-lasting durability, a flat bottom for easy storage, and a smooth enamel coating to give us the smoothest surface and handle available.
#5. Yes4All Deep Tissue Massage
It only makes sense to finish off our home gym with a Yes4All Deep Tissue AccuPoint Foam Roller, which can be used to deeply relax our muscles after the end of a tough workout. This Yes4All foam roller is specifically great for massaging the arms, lower back, gluteals, thighs, hamstrings, and IT bands.
It is therefore, a great way to finish off either our strength or cardio routines and with its compact size, will fit just perfectly into our home gym. If you can afford to go with one that is more high quality, look no further than the TriggerPoint GRID foam roller.
Home Gym Summary (Option 1):
- Stamina BodyTrac Glider 1050
- Stamina 1690 PowerTower
- Kinzi Resistance Band Set
- CAP Barbell Kettlebell
- Yes4All Deep Tissue Foam Roller
Home Gym Option 2:
#1. Bowflex Body Tower
The Bowflex BodyTower is very similar to our previously mentioned Stamina 1690 Power Tower. This multi-station workout tower also allows us to complete a whole array of essential exercises including push-ups, pull-ups, dips, knee raises, squats, planks, and more. Other than design, there isn’t a whole lot of difference between the Bowflex BodyTower and Stamina model. Even their measurements are nearly identical.
The one biggest difference that can be accounted for between the Bowflex BodyTower and Stamina Power Tower is overall durability. While the Power Tower comes in weighing at only 54 pounds, the Bowflex BodyTower weighs in at 125 pounds with a with a 300-pound maximum user weight limit versus the 250-pound max seen with the Power Tower. The only other differences are that the BodyTower also comes with sling grips allowing for additional variety and a workout placard attached to the equipment.
#2. CAP Barbell Kettlebell
As previously mentioned in Home Gym Option #1.
#3. Kinzi Resistance Band Set
As previous mentioned in Home Gym Option #1.
Option #1 allows us to save a good deal of money, while giving us more flexibility to purchase other pieces of equipment for our home gyms thus, allowing for more overall versatility. In addition, we get to train both our cardio and strength with option #1.
One reason why you may shy away from option #1 is due to room capacity, but keep in mind that the rowing machine above is foldable and fairly compact for what it does so hopefully that won’t be too much of an issue.
